India has suggested that the 'Maratha Military Landscapes of India' be added to the UNESCO World Heritage List for 2024–2025. Constructed in the 1700s and 1800s, these military landscapes highlight a remarkable defense system designed by Maratha kings. The network of forts, spanning the Sahyadri mountain ranges, Konkan Coast, Deccan Plateau, and Eastern Ghats, integrates distinctive landscapes. Salher Fort, Shivneri Fort, Raigad, Vijaydurg, and other notable parts are among them. Up to the Peshwa era in 1818 CE, the Maratha Military ideology, which dates back to the 17th century, persisted.
