Operating at the Korea Institute of Fusion Energy, South Korea's KSTAR fusion reactor, also known as the Korean artificial sun, made history by setting a new world record by maintaining plasma at 100 million degrees Celsius for 48 seconds. This breaks the record set by itself and represents a step closer to clean, endless energy via nuclear fusion. Fusion is a promising solution to climate change, despite its challenges. The importance of stable, high-temperature plasmas for fusion reactors in the future is emphasized by director Si-Woo Yoon.
