After Satish Dhawan Space Center, the Prime Minister opened the second spaceport in Tamil Nadu, Kulasekarapattinam Spaceport. The facility will focus on commercial Small Satellite Launch Vehicle launches. It is 2,350 acres long and has 35 facilities on it, such as rocket integration areas and launch pads. The spaceport's distinct advantage over the current location is that it can launch small rockets with less fuel because it can launch directly south over the Indian Ocean. The project will increase India's space capabilities and is estimated to cost Rs. 986 crore.
