India is about to submit a Letter of Request (LoR) to the US government asking for 31 General Atomics MQ-9B Predator drones. These drones, an adaptation of the MQ-9 "Reaper," are equipped with strike missiles for precise target destruction as well as remote or autonomous flight capabilities. The MQ-9B was created by General Atomics and is available in two variations: SkyGuardian and SeaGuardian. The MQ-9B Sea Guardian has been in use by the Indian Navy since 2020. The drone can fly above 40,000 feet for 40 hours with a payload of up to 5,670 kg, making it useful for expeditionary, combat, and surveillance missions, as well as integration into civil airspace.
