Petroglyphs carved by humans up to 2,000 years ago have been found in the Amazon rainforest during a record drought. These petroglyphs are partially submerged in one of the region's largest rivers. The pre-Columbian engravings were discovered near the confluence of the Amazon and Negro rivers in the Brazilian city of Manaus. Humans, animals, and geometric forms like squares and circles are all depicted in the images etched into the rocks.
