In Kerala, researchers found a novel species of phytopathogenic fungus called 'Paramyrothecium indicum.' The majority of Paramyrothecium are phytopathogens that cause harmful plant diseases that reduce crop yield. A type of fungal disease that affects a variety of plants is called Paramyrothecium leaf spots. Some generate metabolites that are bio-herbicidal and may be employed to suppress weeds. One of the six biological kingdoms, fungi are eukaryotic creatures that play a variety of roles in the environment, including decomposition, plant diseases, and skin conditions in humans. They are essential to industrial processes such as the production of beer and bread.
