Phangnon Konyak recently made history when she became the first woman from Nagaland to serve as chairperson of the Rajya Sabha. She and three other women were the first nominees made by House Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar for the panel of vice-chairpersons. Ms. Konyak was the second woman from the state to be elected to the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, or the state Assembly in 2022. She was the first woman from Nagaland to be elected to the Rajya Sabha.
