According to a new report published by EA Earth Action in Switzerland, India ranks among the top twelve countries in the world for mishandling plastic waste, accounting for 60% of it. The Plastic Overshoot Day report, which was released on April 12, 2024, ranks Bermuda at the bottom of the Mismanaged Waste Index and identifies Eritrea as the worst. India produces the least amount of plastic waste annually per person in the world (8 kg), but its projected mismanaged waste in 2024 is 'very high' at 7.4 million tons.
