A huge ocean lies beneath the icy surface of Saturn's moon Mimas, as revealed by NASA's Cassini spacecraft, which is a part of a joint mission with ESA and ASI. Cassini, which was launched in 1997, orbited Saturn from 2004 to 2017, providing important new information about both the planet and its moons. It weighed 2,125 kg and used radar to map Titan's surface while researching Saturn's magnetic field. Weighing in at 349 kg, Cassini's Huygens probe made landfall on Titan, where it found six moons and suggested that Titan and Enceladus might be home to extraterrestrial life.
