UNESCO's Executive Board expanded the Global Geoparks network by 18 sites in March 2024, bringing the total number of sites to 213 spread across 48 countries. Belgium, the Netherlands, Brazil, China, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, and Spain are the locations of the new locations. Global Geoparks are discrete geographic areas overseen by managers who apply an integrated approach to conservation, education, and sustainable development.
