On the Vani-Warora Highway in Vidarbh, Maharashtra, the first 200-meter-long bamboo crash barrier in the world, known as "Bahu Balli," has been put in place. It offers a greener alternative to steel barriers with a higher recycling value and has been approved by the Indian Road Congress. The bamboo known as "Bambusa Balcoa" is coated with recycled High-Density Poly Ethylene (HDPE) and given a creosote oil treatment.
