In the Peddapalli district of Telangana, at Sitamma Loddi, Gattusingaram, prehistoric rock paintings have been discovered. The paintings, which covered a 1,000-foot-long by 50-foot-high sandstone rock shelter, were found on a hillock in a dense forest. The Paleolithic and Neolithic epochs were separated by the Mesolithic, also known as the Middle Stone Age, which began between 12,000 and 10,000 years ago. It was a crucial period in the evolution of human culture because it saw the switch from large chipped stone tools to microliths, which are tiny tools attached to bone or wood handles to make tools like saws and sickles.
