In Gangapuram, Telangana, a 900-year-old Kannada inscription from the Kalyana Chalukya dynasty was discovered. From the sixth to the twelfth centuries, the Deccan plateau in central India was ruled by the Chalukyas, who were divided into three separate dynasties: Badami, Kalyani, and Vengi. The capital of the Kalyani Chalukyas, who were predominantly Kannadiga, was Kalyani (now the Bidar district in Karnataka). Under the suzerainty of the Rashtrakuta Empire, Tailapa II established the empire while ruling Tardavadi in the Bijapur district of Karnataka.
