Kerala won the coveted Global Responsible Tourism Award 2023 in recognition of its successful efforts to promote sustainable and women-inclusive tourism, which were spearheaded by the state's Responsible Tourism Mission. Six categories were awarded in the Global Responsible Tourism Awards, which serve the regions of Africa, India, and Latin America. These categories included Tackling Plastic Waste; Meaningful Connections; Addressing Climate Change; Local Sourcing – Craft and Food; Diversity and Inclusion; and Nature-Positive Tourism.
