Coal mining is expected to resume legally in Meghalaya by July of this year, ending a nine-year ban. Since 2014, it was prohibited. The Center has approved mining leases for four people in the State, according to Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, which will enable the State to engage in scientific mining.
