The state of Odisha has won the 2023 World Habitat Awards for its Jaga Mission initiative. The largest land titling and slum upgrading program in the world, known as Jaga Mission, aims to improve the lives of slum residents. The 2,919 slums in Odisha are being upgraded as part of the Jaga Mission. Over the course of the initiative's last five years, 1,75,000 families have received secure land tenure.
