The government was recommended to appoint two Chief Justices of High Courts as judges of the highest court by the five-member Supreme Court collegium, which was chaired by Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud. Currently, the Supreme Court has seven open seats out of its authorized 34 judges. Three high court chief justices and two HC judges are anticipated to have their names cleared by the central government. As a result, the Supreme Court will have 32 members in total. It is currently 27.
