Every year on February 28th, India observes National Science Day to commemorate Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman's discovery of the Raman Effect. In 1987, it was noted for the first time. The day honors the achievements of scientists and raises awareness of the value of science in daily life. As a result of his discovery of Raman Scattering, Raman was awarded the Physics Nobel Prize in 1930, becoming the first Indian to do so.
