The government has launched a pilot program called Digital Crop Survey (DCS) in 12 states beginning with the Kharif season of 2023 to improve the collection of sowing data. The DCS reference application employs GPS and GIS technologies in order to guarantee accurate crop area estimation and provide farmers with assistance. It was developed as a freely accessible, open-source, and interoperable tool that complies with open standards.
