The government initiated a nationwide protocol to train anganwadi workers in identifying and assisting children with disabilities. The Women and Child Development Ministry released a statement stating that over eight crore children between the ages of one and six receive daily assistance from the anganwadi eco-system. As per the Draft National Policy for Persons with Disabilities 2021, it is estimated that approximately one-third of disabilities in India can be prevented, provided they are identified early and given appropriate attention.
